As Malaysians, chocolate malt drinks are synonymous to our childhood. We grew up drinking it almost daily, any time of the day and even when we are feeling under the weather. These drinks energized us as well as helped chased the blues away.
I clearly remember the times I was served a cup of plain chocolate malt drink when I was unwell during my childhood. Of course, that was not much fun as the real deal is to have it cold and sweet. I have fond memories of two popular chocolate malt drinks sold in Malaysian eateries and would like to share them with you.
The most popular chocolate malt brand that is sold in Malaysia is Milo which is also widely available in Australia. One of the drinks, “Milo Dinosaur” is topped with heaps of chocolate malt powder while the other, “Milo Godzilla” is topped with whipped cream and/or vanilla ice cream. These heaps of chocolate malt powder are added to give extra crunch to the drinks.
As the recipes are pretty straight-forward, you just have to try them to experience their deliciousness. If you are not able to find Milo, seek out Ovaltine or make your own chocolate malt drinks by combining malt powder, instant milk powder and sugar (optional).
